Alateen—Hope for Children of Alcoholics. New York: Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc., 1980. This book explains what Al-Anon is all about.

An Elephant in the Living Room, The Children's Book. M.H. Typpo and J.M. Hastings. Center City, MN: Hazeldon, 1984. This book has a program to help young people deal with the problems of living with a problem drinker or drug-abusing parent or sibling.

Children's Place. Jerry Moe, M.A. and Ross Ziegler, M.D. Petaluma, CA: Acid Test Productions, 1998. This book includes artwork and letters of children of alcoholics.

Living Today in Alateen.Virginia Beach, VA: Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc., 2001. This book is a collection of personal sharings from Alateen members around the world. There is a different page for each day of the year.

Kids' Power Too: Words To Grow By. Cathey Brown, Betty LaPorte and Jerry Moe. Dallas, Texas: ImaginWorks, 1996. This book offers a thought for every day.

My Dad Loves Me, My Dad has a Disease. Claudia Black. Bainbridge Island, WA: MAC third Edition 2000. A workbook that helps young people learn about themselves, their feelings, and the disease of addiction in their families through art therapy. Children between the ages of 6 and 14 share what it is like for them to live in a family with alcoholism or drug addiction.

Something's Wrong in My House. Katherine Leiner. New York: Franklin Watts, 1988. A book about domestic violence and alcoholism and how it affects children. The book deals with the universal feelings of fear, anger, and hopelessness and looks for ways to help people cope.

Think of Wind. Catherine Mercury. Rochester, NY: One Big Press. A story about how alcoholism impacts families.

Have You Ever Been A Child? (Hints for children and adults) Leslie Gebhart. Palm Springs, CA: Trineheart Publishers. Simple illustrations with hope-filled messages give inspiration to children of all ages. Ordering information: 1-800-898-7884.
