Nikki McCray has been playing basketball since she was eleven. Once she got to college, she was able to help lead the Tennessee Lady Vols to the NCAA tournament four years in a row. She then went on to play in the American Basketball League and was signed with the WNBA's Washington Mystics in 1998. Continuing to set new goals with the Mystics, Nikki finished the 1999 WNBA season ranked fourth in the league for scoring and played in the WNBA All-Star game. She also helped the USA capture the 1999 U.S. Olympic Cup gold medal and the USA Basketball International Invitational titles.

Off the court, she enjoys singing, running, and watching soap operas. She has a Photo of Nikki Mccray in action on the courtblack Labrador named Kobe, and her favorite food is french fries. She feels it is important to contribute to the community, so she has worked with the Boys & Girls Club during her playing career. Being a nature enthusiast, she would like to go to Maui to snorkel and watch the whales.

Nikki has recently been named as a member of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The council advises the President and Secretary of Health and Human Services on improving Americans' participation in sports and physical activity.

Career Highlights

  • Led the Mystics in 1998 in scoring, three-point percentage and assists, ranked 2nd on the team in three-pointers made and 3rd in steals
  • Registered a WNBA career-highs of 29 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds in an 85-76 win over the Utah Starzz on 6/19/98
  • Member of the gold medal winning 1996 USA Olympic and the historic 1995-96 USA Basketball Women's National teams that compiled a combined 60-0 record and were named the 1996 U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Basketball Team of the Year. Recorded USA team highs of 16 points and nine rebounds in preliminary round win over South Korea.
  • Played for the U.S. National Team at the 1998 FIBA Women's World Championship in Germany
  • Named 1997 ABL Most Valuable Player while leading the Columbus Quest to the ABL championship
  • The Lady Vols of the University of Tennessee compiled a 122-11 record during her four-year career
  • Named the 1994 and 1995 SEC Player of the Year
  • Won four SEC Championships and made four trips to the NCAA Tournament
