Remember the Menorah you made in second grade? Is it getting old and outdated? Do you want to make a Kinara to celebrate Kwanzaa? You can make a sturdy Menorah or Kinara from some things that might be lying around your garage! Be safety smart-ask a parent for help when making your Menorah or Kinara.
What you will need:
- Spray paint (Be sure to use the spray paint outside and ask your parents to lend a hand.)
- Rectangular wooden block
- Small chunk of wood
- Nine nuts (not the kind you eat, the kind that come from your parent's tool box)
- Wood glue
- Candles
Directions:
- Paint the rectangular wooden block in the base color and the smaller piece in another color. If you want, you can spray the metal nuts with glittery paint. Let the paint dry completely.
- Glue the small piece of wood to the center of the longer piece of wood. Let that dry completely.
- Glue one nut to the top center of the wood and the other eight (or six) along the length of the Menorah or Kinara. Let the nuts dry completely.
- Insert the candles securely in the holder and DON'T light until your parents are around.
